Tyler Petty was lightly recruited out of high school, getting some looks from Louisburg and Mount Olive, before then Barton Baseball Coach Todd Wilkinson watched him play and recruited him during fall ball
Tyler, a Rocky Mount, N.C., native, turned into one of the best players over the past several decades for the Bulldogs.
Tyler lettered four seasons with Barton (2003-06) and graduated as the school’s all-time leader in career home runs (55) and slugging percentage (.656), two marks that still stand today.
Tyler, an outfielder, ranks fifth in runs scored (172), sixth in total hits (236), second in triples (12), and third in total bases (464) and runs batted in (209) on the Bulldogs’ career lists as well.
Tyler was a three-time all-conference honoree (2004-06) including a first-team selection in 2005 and 2006 and was an all-region pick as well.
Tyler was instrumental in leading the Bulldogs to their last Conference Carolinas Regular Season Championship in 2006.
A 2006 graduate of Barton College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Tyler currently works for the financing company, AgResoure Management. AgResoure provides Lines of Credit for row crop farmers primarily in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
