Jack Allsbrook was born and raised in Rocky Mount, and attended Rocky Mount Senior High School where he participated in football, basketball, and baseball.

In 1947 Jack received a basketball scholarship at Barton and went on to letter all four years as a starting guard. He also played football three years and baseball two years at Barton. His junior year he had a batting average of .306 and was named Little All-American in football.

Allsbrook was also involved in many other activities at Barton. He was named Vice President of the Junior Class, and President of the student body his senior year. He was appointed to the men’s dormitory council, the North Carolina Student Council, and Chapel Committee his senior year. He was also named to the Golden Knot Honor Society and “Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges.”

He played professional baseball for the Rocky Mount Leafs. He is married to the former Joyce Walsh of Wilson. They have four children and 11 grandchildren.
