Hall of Fame
Daniel Colvin was recruited by former A.C.C./Barton Coach Mark Faithful after being introduced to then-Atlantic Christian College courtesy of his school school mentor, Joe Clay Jones.
Daniel played four seasons on the Bulldogs’ men’s basketball team (1988-92) where he averaged in double figures and graduated as the school’s all-time leader in three-pointers made.
Daniel was a Team Captain for three seasons and earned Team MVP honors as a senior.
Daniel’s standout moment as a player came when he hit an 89-foot game-winning shot in overtime to defeat Belmont Abbey at home.
Daniel’s contributions to Barton also came as an Assistant Coach for both the Bulldogs’ men’s team (three years) and women’s squad (22 seasons).
Working under then-Head Coach and Barton Hall-of-Famer Wendee Saintsing, Daniel helped guide the program to 12 20-win seasons, seven conference regular season championships, three league tournament titles and 10 NCAA Division II berths.
Daniel was on the staff of the 2021-22 Barton Women’s Basketball Team which compiled a school-record 28-2 record and winning both the Conference Carolinas Regular Season and Tournament Championships while earning a berth to the national tournament.
Daniel, a 1992 graduate of Barton College, earned his master’s degree in educational leadership from Arkansas State and is currently completing doctoral work in educational leadership from Carson-Newman University.
Daniel also served as Principal at Rocky Mount High School in Rocky Mount, N.C., and Craven Early College in New Bern, N.C.
Currently, Daniel is the Head Junior Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach at East Wake High School in Knightdale, N.C. Daniel also coached in the AAU ranks and spent time as an Associate Head Coach at Craven Community College in New Bern, N.C.
Daniel’s daughter, Dr. Keanu Price, is a 2018 Barton College Sports Hall of Fame inductee.
