Jay Clark was a 1946 Charles L. Coon graduate and one of numerous fine A.C. athletes who played under coach Leon Brogden. Clark, who served in the U.S. army before coming to A.C., played football, baseball, and basketball. In 1952 Clark won the Outstanding Senior Athletic Award. He was the two-time All-North State Conference selection in baseball.

Clark’s natural gift of leadership was evident early. He was co-captain of the football team and captain of the baseball and basketball teams, as well as president of the student body. For the past 20 years Clark has been principle of Fairglen Elementary School in Cocoa, FL, where he and his wife, Peggy reside. He is one of the 17 principals in the nation to receive the American Educators Medal.

Clark has two sons, Jim (27) and John (25). He earned his M.A. Education degree from East Carolina University in 1958. He taught and coached in North Carolina. He moved to Florida in 1958 as a teacher in the Brevard County system, and became the Fairglen principal in 1966.
