Paul Glazer, who has spent most of his life in Chelsea, came to Wilson through the recruiting efforts of the late M.J. Bird.
Glazer played four years of football, four years of basketball, and one year of baseball during his college career, which spanned from 1946-1950.
Glazer, generally considered one of the finest all-around athletes to wear the royal blue and white of AC, was named Athlete of the year in both 1949 and 1950.
Glazer was born in Chelsea in 1927 and graduated from Chelsea High School. He served the United States Navy from 1944-45 before coming to AC.
Glazer and his wife, Gloria Madow, have three children and two grandchildren. The children are Howard Glazer, a doctor; Bruce Glazer, a probation officer; and Roybn Glazer, a lawyer. Howard works at the University of Michigan while the other two children live either in or near Chelsea.
Glazer worked with Hanes Hosiery and played basketball in the Winston-Salem area following college. He then moved back to Massachusetts and served as athletic director from 1952 through 1968 before taking the position of executive director, which he currently holds.
