Bobby Dunn played basketball and tennis at Barton College from 1956-1960. He attended South Edgecombe High School from 1952-1956 where he played basketball and baseball. He was named All-Conference in baseball in 1954, 1955 and 1956.

At Barton, Dunn played basketball and tennis for four years. From 1957-58 he was ranked in the NAIA’s top 10 in foul shooting. As a member of the tennis team he was named captain in 1960, his senior year.

Dunn was elected President of the freshman class, Treasurer of Student Government his sophomore year and President of the Student Government Association his senior year. He was named in Who’s Who in Colleges and Universities in 1960.

After leaving Barton College, Dunn taught and coached in the Norfolk City Schools from 1961-1962 and in Rocky Mount City Schools from 1962-1966. He received his Masters of Education from East Carolina University in 1966 and was hired as Director of Financial Aid and Assistant Director of Admissions at Barton College, where he worked until 1971. He went to work with New York Life in 1971.

Dunn has been a long-time member and supporter of the Bulldog Club and won the organization's C. Johnson Moore Award for outstanding service in 1986-87. He is married to the former Mary Alice Ray of Rocky Mount, N.C. They have two children.
