His name is Henry Floyd Bell, Jr., but his lifetime as a Wilsonian, an Atlantic Christian College athlete, graduate and supporter, and as an executive of Branch Banking & Trust saw him more easily recognized as “Buster” Bell. Now living in Raleigh, Bell retired as Sr. Vice president at BB&T in 1977 after 40 years of service. He graduated from AC in 1933 having twice won the Kiwanis Cup as the athlete of the Year. He married the former Kathleen Roberson and they had one daughter, Elizabeth, who is now Elizabeth Brinson. Bell, one of three living inductees, earned 10 varsity letters while also earning his degree in social science. He played two years of football before the Great Depression forced discontinuation of the sport, while playing four years of both baseball and basketball.
