WILSON, N.C.-Freshman Taylor Doeble's first collegiate goal proved to be the game-winner in leading the Barton College women's soccer team to a dominating 3-0 Conference Carolinas victory over visiting North Greenville University Saturday evening.
Freshman Lane Brooks scored a pair of goals for a second straight game to provide the Lady Bulldogs with some insurance.
Barton (3-1-1 Overall, 1-1-0 Conf.) has three shutouts on the season while remained undefeated at home at 2-0.
The Lady Bulldogs held a commanding 28-6 shot advantage including a staggering 13 attempts by Brooks.
North Greenville needed a free kick opportunity in the 37th minute to get off its first shot attempt that sailed left of the goal.
Senior goalie Carson Moore only needed to make two second-half saves to preserve her third clean sheet of 2014.
Doeble netted the game winner just 8:41 into play on assists by junior Ashley Batchelor and sophomore Kelly Dolan. Doeble, who was positioned in the box near the right post, one-timed a crossing pass from Batchelor into the back twine.
BC outshot NGU 15-2 in the first half but only led 1-0 at halftime as senior goalie Katie Tate made six of her 10 saves in the first 45 minutes.
Brooks registered her third and fourth goals in the 52nd and 86th minutes. Brooks cashed in her first tally on a give-and-go play with Doeble. Brooks then ended the scoring by punching in a rebound off another one of her shots that was saved by Tate.
Brooks leads the Royal Blue and White with four goals and eight points. Doeble finished with a three-point performance.
Junior Emily Futral took another six shots for the hosts including four on frame.
Barton continues its four-match homestand with a non-conference tilt against Bluefield College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
