WINGATE, N.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (0-1) opened the 2026 season Thursday night on the road against Wingate (1-0) and suffered a 1-0 loss at the Bulldogs Complex.
Wingate scored the lone goal of the match when Tilde Wahrenberg (Helsingborg, SWEDEN) found the back of the net just 9:21 into the match. Matilda Boyle (Perth, AUSTRALIA) was credited with the assist.
Barton lost despite holding an 11-10 advantage in shots taken while Wingate's Amelia Forsling (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) made a pair of saves and earned the victory after stopping a pair of shots in goal.

Olivia Terranova (Fayetteville, N.C.) allowed just one goal and made four saves despite taking the loss.
Barton hosts Coker in its home opener against on Sunday, August 30, at 4:30 p.m., at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field.
Wingate, meanwhile, hits the road to take on Belmont Abbey on Saturday afternoon starting at 4:30 p.m., in Belmont, N.C.
