Barton’s Lauren Mingo earns weekly league defensive honor for the third time this year

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Barton's Lauren Mingo has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week, league officials announced earlier today.  Mingo wins the honor for the third time this year.

Mingo, a senior guard from Clinton, Md., averaged 9.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, four assists and two steals in leading the Bulldogs to a pair of conference victories over Southern Wesleyan (76-71) and King (71-61) last week.

Mingo ranks second on the team in scoring (11.2 ppg) while leading the squad in rebounding (7.7 ppg), assists (83) and steals (66).

A three-time all-league selection, Mingo ranks 11th on the school's all-time scoring list (1,336 points), fifth in career assists (334) and third in steals (265).

Barton (14-8, 10-4) takes on rival Mount Olive (6-14, 3-11) in a conference contest on Wednesday beginning at 5:00 p.m., in Mount Olive, N.C.
