GREENVILLE, S.C. – Barton College's
Lauren Mingo has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week, league officials announced earlier today.
Mingo, a senior guard from Clinton, Md., averaged 16.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 5.0 steals in leading the Bulldogs to a 2-0 week with victories over North Greenville (79-62) and Erskine (76-52).
Mingo, a three-time all-league pick, earned the weekly defensive honor for the second time this year.
Mingo ranks second on the squad in scoring (11.2 ppg) while ranking first on the team in rebounds (7.4 rpg), assists (67) and steals (57). In addition, Mingo is ranked 13th on the team's all-time scoring list with 1,291 points.
Shorter's Chelsy Singleton was named the league's offensive player of the week.
Barton (11-7, 7-3) hosts UNC Pembroke (7-10, 7-3) in a key league contest on Wednesday beginning at 5:00 p.m., inside the friendly confines of Wilson Gymnasium.
