WILSON, N.C. – The Barton football team (2-5, 2-1) looks to keep the momentum going this Saturday afternoon when the Bulldogs host Shorter (1-7, 0-4) for its annual Homecoming contest. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m., at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.
Barton is coming off a 28-21 win over Chowan this past Saturday at home highlighted by the performance of sophomore running back
Jackson Parrish (Graham, N.C.). Parrish rushed for a league-record 221 yards and three touchdowns on his way to a second straight 200-yard performance on the ground.
For his efforts, Parrish was named the Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week and currently leads the team in rushing yards (687) and touchdowns (eight).
The defense is spearheaded by junior linebacker
Keno Jones (Rocky Mount, N.C.). Jones ranks first on the squad in tackles (89) to go along with three sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Shorter is coming off a 23-19 setback to Erskine last Saturday at home for its fourth consecutive defeat. The Hawks' Jeb Walls (Perry, Ga.) has 809 yards passing and five touchdowns while Lanear McCrary, Jr. (Rockmart, Ga.) leads the team in rushing yards (582) and touchdowns (six).

Chip Hester has been with the program since its re-introduction in 2020.
