Barton women’s soccer puts two on the 2023 all-league teams, ranked ninth in the latest regional poll

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Barton College women's soccer team had two players earn 2023 All-Conference Carolinas honors:  senior forward Kassie Krul (Rockport, Maine) and senior defender Gianna Ferigne (Brick, N.J.), league officials announced earlier today.  Krul was selected to the first team while Ferigne picked up second-team accolades.

Krul leads the team in goals scored (10) and total points (22) this season and ranks in the top team all-time in goals scored (24) in program history to go along with nine assists and 57 total points.  Krul also earned all-conference accolades for the second straight season.

Ferigne anchors a backline which allowed just 24 goals in 17 matches played to go along with five shutouts.  Ferigne has scored once on the year.

Barton (7-5-5), the fourth seed in the Conference Carolinas Championship, will take on top-seeded UNC Pembroke (10-3-3) on Friday at 4:30 p.m., at the Truist Soccer Complex at Bryan Park in Browns Summit, N.C.

In addition, Barton is ranked ninth in the latest NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Poll.   The 2023 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship will include 56 teams with eight from the Southeast Region advancing to the tournament.

The Southeast Region features three automatic bids with the winners of the Conference Carolinas, Peach Belt Conference and South Atlantic Conference tournaments earning automatic berths to the 2023 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament.  The rest of the selections will be at-large choices.
