GAFFNEY, S.C. The Barton College women's soccer team suffered its first Conference Carolinas loss of the year on Saturday after falling to the league's other unbeaten team, Limestone College, by a 2-0 margin at Saints Field.

Despite a lopsided 25-4 edge in shots for the Saints (8-1, 6-0) in the contest, the Lady Bulldogs (4-4, 3-1) managed to hold off Limestone until the 77th minute, when Allie Winglosky banked in a shot off the far post after a crossing pass from Alex Mathis.

Five minutes later, Megan O'Connor padded the Limestone lead by adding her sixth goal of the year, putting away a pass from 30 yards out by Emma Hickson.

Barton's only shot on goal came off the foot of freshman Brianna Boyd in the 28th minute, but the attempt was stopped by Limestone keeper Meredith Bailey (8-1) for her only save of the afternoon.

BC keeper Haley Sauls (3-1) recorded eight saves, just one short of her career high, in keeping the match scoreless until the final 15 minutes. The Raleigh, N.C., resident suffered her first career loss in net for the Lady Bulldogs, having won her five previous decisions over two seasons.

The loss dropped Barton into a three-way tie for second place with Belmont Abbey College and Pfeiffer University. The Lady Bulldogs will host Belmont Abbey in their next match on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
