MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Barton College women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to three straight games with a 3-0 decision over Pfeiffer University on Saturday afternoon, evening its season record at 8-8 overall and 3-3 in Conference Carolinas play.
Barton compiled a season-high .287 hitting percentage as seven different Lady Bulldogs recorded a kill in the victory over Pfeiffer (1-10, 0-5) on the road. Sophomore Stephanie Pingyin once again led the offense with a match-high 18 kills and a .455 hitting percentage.
Freshman Haley Headley followed with a season-high seven kills of her own, while freshman Angelica Acevedo and junior Kaitlyn Micol each totaled double-digit assists with 19 and 11, respectively.
The Royal Blue and White got out to an early 10-1 lead in the opening set, cruising to a 25-14 victory as back-to-back kills from Micol and Pingyin ended the first set of play. Barton's advantage grew to a 2-0 lead after an identical 25-14 win in the second set.
In the third set, Barton and Pfeiffer played to three early ties before the Falcons gained a 6-3 advantage following two Barton attack errors.
The match was once again tied at 9-9 as Pfeiffer eventually built a lead of 19-15 on its home floor. The Lady Bulldogs fought back to tie the set at 22-22, using two Falcon attack errors and a kill by junior Mariana Kedzia to close out the 25-22 set three victory.
Barton returns home on Friday, Oct. 9 to begin a five-game homestand by hosting King University at 7 p.m. in Wilson Gymnasium.
