WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (9-17, 6-13) made it three straight victories with a 3-0 sweep of Ferrum (4-21, 1-17) Friday on Senior Night in a Conference Carolinas match at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs won over the Panthers by scores of 25-14, 25-11 and 25-19 and swept the season series from Ferrum.
Barton was led by sophomore outside hitter
Bailey McIntyre (Mooresville, N.C.) and junior outside hitter
Mattie Wells (Elkin, N.C.) with 15 and 13 kills, respectively, while both players played error-free and both hit over .650 in the victory.
The Bulldogs honored their three seniors prior to the contest: right side hitter
Audrey Earp (Wilson, N.C.), defensive specialist
Vivianna Jensen (Fayetteville, N.C.) and middle blocker
Aubree Schrubb (Piqua, Ohio).
Ferrum's Danielle Worthy (Jacksonville, N.C.) finished with a team-high five kills but the Panthers hit just 0.036 for the match in the losing effort.
Barton will be back in action on Tuesday evening when the Bulldogs host UNC Pembroke in its regular season finale in beginning at 7:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Ferrum plays UNC Pembroke on Saturday in conference action starting at 2:00 p.m.
