WILSON, N.C. – The Lady Bulldog defense showed its teeth on Tuesday night, holding Pfeiffer University to just 28.9 percent from the field and forcing 30 Falcon turnovers as Barton earned a 66-49 victory in Wilson Gymnasium.

The opening minutes of the game were closely contested until Barton opened the game up with a 16-7 run over a six minute period to earn a 21-11 advantage midway through the first half.

A layup from sophomore Tiffany Webster would give the Lady Bulldogs their biggest lead of the half at 31-18 with 2:07 remaining. Barton dominated the paint, scoring 20 points down low, leading to a 33-22 edge at intermission.

Barton began the second half in much of the same fashion, building a 14-point lead through the half's first six minutes of play. Pfeiffer was able to cut the deficit to 44-35 with just over 10 minutes to play but would get no closer.

Two free throws from freshman Chanel Shannon gave the Lady Bulldogs their largest lead at 53-36 as Barton cruised to the 17-point victory over the final seven minutes of play.

The Lady Bulldogs totaled 38 points in the paint, compared to just 18 by the Falcons, while Barton also saw its bench score 37 total points as Pfeiffer scored just 10 reserve points in the contest.

Sophomore Tiffany Webster led all scorers with 15 points and four assists, while senior Kaila Lea followed with 10 points of her own off of the bench.

Freshman Deja Jeanpierre tied her career-high with nine points in 18 minutes of play as fellow freshman Alexis Johnson chipped in eight points and seven rebounds. Senior Brianna Thomas filled up the stat sheet, totaling eight points, a game-high nine rebounds, three assists and three steals.

With the victory, Barton improves to 6-9 overall and 5-3 in Conference Carolinas play. The Lady Bulldogs will now carry their three-game win streak on the road as they travel to Gaffney, S.C. on Saturday, Jan. 17 for a matchup with league-leader Limestone College at 5:30 p.m.
