MONTEVALLO, Ala.-Junior Lashley Winter and sophomore Tyler Amerson paced Barton College to a 14th place finish out of 16 teams in the men's division of the 2014 Falcon Classic hosted by the University of Montevallo on Saturday morning.
Winter and Amerson both finished in the upper-half of the field. Winter had the Bulldogs best performance in the 8,000-meter race with a time of 28:29. Winter placed 48th out of 129 runners.
Amerson crossed the finish line just 22 seconds later in 59th place with a time of 28:51.
Freshman Sebaston Barrett and sophomore Luar Mercado Lopez were Barton's next finishers in 87th and 89th position, respectively, with times of 31:02 and 31:52. Senior Daniel Strutton contributed the Bulldogs fifth counting time of 32:17 and freshman Jose Simpre rounded out BC's participation at 36:34.
The Montevallo Cross Country Course will also serve as the host site of the 2014 NCAA Southeast Regional in November.
No. 10 nationally ranked University of Mount Olive won the team title with 50 points. Mars Hill University took second with 85 points. Clayton State University's Job Kemboi won the individual title with a time of 25:47.
Barton will conclude the regular season portion of its schedule at the Sand Shark Invitational hosted by USC Beaufort on Saturday, October 25 in Hardeesville, S.C.
