CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Barton men's cross country team took eighth place in the Men's Open race Friday afternoon at the Queen City Invite at McAlpine Creek Park.
Barton was led by senior
Deshawn Owens (Pikeville, N.C.), who finished sixth overall on the 8K course with a time of 26:13 while sophomore
Justin Marshall (Nashville, N.C.) took 26th in 27:36 for the Bulldogs.
Reinhardt (Ga.) was the top men's squad while Lenoir-Rhyne's Jacob Parkinson (Lincoln, UNITED KINGDOM) won the men's race in 25:26.
On the women's side, Barton sophomore
Angela James-Creech (Middlesex, N.C.) ran the 5K course in 22:59 while Benedict took home team honors. Savannah State's Kayla Chance (Savannah, Ga.) earned individual medalist accolades after crossing the finish line in 19:08.
The Barton cross country teams will next compete in the Pirate Invitational on Saturday, October 15, at Overton's Lake Kristi in Greenville, Tenn.
