CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Barton men's cross country team took 26th-place overall at the 2019 Queen City Invite Friday evening at McAlpine Creek Park. A total of 43 schools competed in the race.
Augusta University – powered by five runners in the top 11 – took home team honors with 26 points while Benedict's Mathew Chesum (Eldoret, KENYA) won the 8K after crossing the finish line in 24:36.
For Barton, freshman Xavier McLamb (Newton Grove, N.C.) was the top individual after running a 27:42 and placing 100th overall. Sophomore Deshawn Owens (Pikeville, N.C.) took 113th overall while clocking a 27:59 for the Bulldogs as well.
The Barton men's cross country team comes back to Charlotte, N.C., to run in the Royals Challenge on Friday, October 11, at McAlpine Creek Park beginning at 4:30 p.m.
