2013 Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Postseason Awards
SUMTER, S.C.-Freshman Rafael Ruiz Velasco and sophomore Max Leppert were both selected to the 2013 Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis All-Conference Teams announced at Thursday evening's awards banquet held before the start of the Conference Carolinas Tournament.
Velasco and Leppert split time in the top two positions in the Bulldogs lineup and posted individual winning records on the regular season.
Velasco was tabbed a Second Team All-Conference honoree in his first season representing the Royal Blue and White. Velasco finished with 10-7 overall singles records including winning his first five collegiate dual matches. Velasco garnered four wins in league play and was the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week on February 20.
Leppert garnered Third Team All-Conference attention in his second season with the Bulldogs comprising a 7-6 overall record while fighting injury late in the season. Leppert was the on Barton player to finish the regular season with a winning record in conference contests going 5-3.
Velasco and Leppert teamed up for five doubles wins as the Bulldogs top tandem. Velasco finished with eight doubles wins and Leppert had six combined wins throughout the season.
Barton entered the 2013 Conference Carolinas Tournament as the No. 8 seed and plays top-seeded Coker College in the quarterfinals on Friday at 9 a.m.
