WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's tennis team (16-7), ranked No. 42 in NCAA Division II, shut out Mary Washington (14-8), 7-0, in the regular season finale Monday afternoon at the Michalak Tennis Complex.
Four Bulldogs – senior
Hannes Tylehed (Stockholm, SWEDEN), juniors
Felipe Mioch (Diemen, NETHERLANDS) and
Guillem Busquets Brau (Sabadell, SWEDEN) and freshman
Daniel Lopez (Palma De Mallorca, SPAIN) – earned victories in singles and doubles play to lead the home team.
In addition, senior
Johan Holgersson (Bromma, SWEDEN) improved to 20-1 in singles matches and won his 20th straight match in singles play with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Mary Washington's Evan Fisher (Richmond, Va.).
Barton is the fifth seed in the 2025 Conference Carolinas Championship Quarterfinals and will take on eighth-seeded Lees-McRae (11-8) in the opening round on Thursday, April 24, at 5:30 p.m., at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.
Mary Washington faces North Carolina Wesleyan on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m., in Rocky Mount, N.C.
