WILSON, N.C.-Visiting Mount Olive College outscored host Barton College 26-3 en route to a Conference Carolinas doubleheader sweep on Friday afternoon at Nixon Field winning the first game 14-1 and the second game 12-2.

The Trojans (9-5 Overall, 4-1 Conf.) and the Bulldogs (5-13, 0-5) are currently scheduled to wrap up the three-game weekend series on Saturday at Noon.

Mount Olive – ranked No. 10 in the NCBWA Southeast Region poll and No. 29 in the College Baseball Lineup national poll – scored its 26 runs on exactly 26 hits as the Trojans took advantage of 12 walks, six Bulldog errors and four hit batsmen.

Junior Phillip Williams led the Bulldogs with four hits including a pair of doubles.  Freshman Duncan Everett was the most successful of eight Barton pitchers to toe the rubber Friday by going two scoreless innings without giving up a walk and just one hit while striking out two.

Senior Antonio Callaway paced Mount Olive going a combined 6-of-8 with three doubles and six RBI.

The visitors jumped out to a 9-0 lead after two innings of the first game with the help of four unearned runs due to two BC errors before coasting to the 13-run victory. Callaway and junior Geno Escalante each drove in three Trojan runs.

Barton got its only unearned run off MOC senior starter Jake Moser in the fourth with an RBI-single by junior Zac Crumpler. Williams had two of the Bulldogs seven hits.

Moser (4-0) remained perfect on the season going eight innings without allowing a walk.

The Royal Blue and White led after two innings of the nightcap after Crumpler led off the second inning with a double that landed just inside the left field foul line, advancing to third on a wild pitch and then tagging up and scoring on a sacrifice fly by junior Clay Martin.

Mount Olive stormed ahead with an eight-run top of the third as eight consecutive Trojans touched home plate. The frame was highlighted by a three-run homer by senior Jacob Rogers.

Junior starter Matt Dillon (1-0) held Barton to just one run over the first five innings for the win.

BC scored its last run in the seventh with senior Ryan Daughtry ripping a double to the wall in right-center and eventually scoring on a single by Williams.

Barton has only averaged 2.0 runs per game in its first five league games.
