WILSON, N.C.-A trio of Bulldog freshman all posted their first collegiate singles wins without losing a single game as the Barton College men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 victory over Chowan University on Saturday afternoon at the Barton Tennis Complex.
A total of four BC freshman won for the first time as the Bulldogs improved to 1-2 on the season. The Hawks fell to 0-4.
Freshmen Antoine Massicotte, Jorge Pradilla and Eric Simmons all recorded perfect 6-0, 6-0 wins in the bottom half of the singles lineup.
Senior Pier-Alexandre Desilets improved to a team-best 2-1 on the season with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the top draw. Classmate Renato Mendes needed three sets to complete the Bulldogs sweep, winning in the second slot by a final score of 5-7, 6-4, 10-3. Freshman Max Leppert added his first career win from the third position in the lineup in straight sets of 6-1 and 6-0.
Barton controlled doubles play to start the match with Mendes-Leppert claiming an 8-2 win, Massicotte-Desilets pairing up for a 8-1 victory and Pradilla-Simmons teaming up for a 8-2 conquest.
Barton will next host No. 14 Francis Marion University on Saturday, Feb. 11 at Noon.
