INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The Barton football team (0-1) looks to pick up its first win of the year when the Bulldogs travel to play the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State.  Kickoff at Lakin-Ray Field at Dickerson Stadium is set for Noon.

Barton hopes to bounce back after falling to Virginia State by a 35-7 score last Thursday night in the season opener at home.

Barton sophomore running back Jackson Parrish (Graham, N.C.) scored on an eight-yard pass from senior quarterback Trevor Nored (Waldorf, Md.) early in the fourth quarter to help the Bulldogs avoid the shutout.

West Virginia State suffered a 41-10 loss to Carson-Newman last Saturday afternoon in Jefferson City, Tenn., in its season opener.

The Yellow Jackets pulled out a 27-24 victory over the Bulldogs last year in the only other meeting between the two schools on Thursday, September 5, in Wilson, N.C.

Barton is a member of the newly-formed football league of the Conference Carolinas while West Virginia State is a member of the Mountain East Conference.

The Bulldogs are led by sixth-year mentor Chip Hester while the Yellow Jackets are coached by ninth-year John Pennington.
