AHOSKIE, N.C. – Barton's
Mitchell Soma earned individual medalist honors at the Chowan Men's Golf Intercollegiate which concluded Tuesday with the third and final round at the Beechwood Country Club.
Soma, a senior from New Albany, Ohio, won the event with a five-under 211 performance on the par-72, 7,020-yard course. Mount Olive tied Barton's "B" Team for first place in the team competition with a 10-over 874 but beat the Bulldogs in a tiebreaker.
Soma won his first collegiate tournament while Barton sophomore
Giovanni Bruno (Padova, ITALY) and junior
Ryan Jahr (Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.) both tied for third overall with an even-par 216 of 54 holes of play.
Barton next competes in the 2025 Conference Carolinas Championship at the Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, S.C., from Sunday, April 13, through Tuesday, April 15.
