WILSON, N.C. – The Barton Football Team returns home after nearly a month on the road to face Delta State on Saturday afternoon at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field.
The Bulldogs are 0-4 on the season while Delta State is 4-1 overall. The Statesmen are also ranked No. 20 in NCAA Division II this week while the squads are meeting for the first time ever.
Barton is coming off a 52-14 setback to then-No. 13 West Alabama two weeks ago in Livingston, Ala. The Tigers reeled off 38 straight points to take control of the contest after a 14-14 tie in the second quarter.
West Alabama quarterback Spencer Arceneaux (Mobile, Ala.) finished with 370 total yards – 257 passing and 113 rushing – to go along with six scores - four passing and two rushing - to spearhead the home team to the victory.
Barton sophomore running back
Jackson Parrish (Graham, N.C.) finished with 112 yards rushing and a touchdown despite the loss. Parrish leads the squad 238 yards rushing and four scores.
On defense, the Bulldogs' junior linebacker
Keno Jones (Rocky Mount, N.C.) leads all tacklers with 65 takedowns while freshman defensive back
Sean-Jacob Bethea (Wake Forest, N.C.) has a pair of sacks.
Delta State, a member of the Gulf South Conference, is coming off a 52-0 victory over Erskine last Saturday at home. The Statesmen rolled up 558 yards of total offense while quarterback Garrett Ames (Kimberly, Ala.) passed for 252 yards and two scores in the victory.
Delta State averages 33.2 points and 429.0 yards of total offense per game this year. The Statesmen won the NCAA Division II National Championship in 2000.

Chip Hester, who is in his sixth season at helm. Delta State is led by 13-year mentor Todd Cooley.
