WILSON, N.C. – The Barton Football Team (0-5) lost to No. 20 Delta State (5-1) by a 45-0 score Saturday afternoon at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Stadium.
The Bulldogs were playing at home for the first time since August.
Delta State took advantage of three turnovers by the Bulldogs and shook off a very slow start to register back-to-back shutouts for the first time since the 1965 season. All three turnovers led to touchdowns by the Statesmen.
The Statesman received three first-half rushing touchdowns by Nick Clark (Daphne, Ala.) and three second-half rushing scores courtesy of Qualon Farrer (Dallas, Texas) on their way to the victory in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
Delta State, a member of the Gulf South Conference, also registered a defensive safety and limited Barton to just 114 yards on the day. On offense, the Statesmen totaled 393 yards on the afternoon.

Keno Jones (Rocky Mount, N.C.) tallied 10 tackles and a sack in the losing effort.
Barton hits the road again to take on Ferrum in a Conference Carolinas game on Saturday, October 11, at 2:00 p.m., while Delta State hosts Ferrum on Saturday, October 18, starting at 2:00 p.m., as well.
