LAKELAND, Fla. – The Barton men's golf team, ranked No. 24 in NCAA Division II, opened the spring season with a fourth-place showing at the Matlock Collegiate Classic at the Lone Palm Golf Club which concluded Tuesday with the third and final round.
The Bulldogs shot an 884 (+20) on the par-72, 7,151-yard course while Florida Southern, ranked No. 11 in the nation and the host institution, won the 54-hole tournament with a six-over 870.
Barton was led by junior
Daniel Adkins (Holly Springs, N.C.), who tied for tenth overall after carding a 218 (+2) over three rounds. Nova Southeastern's Michael Hay (Middlesbrough, ENGLAND) was individual medalist thanks to a three-under 213 for the tournament.
Barton next competes in the Spring Bulldog Clash on Monday, February 26, and Tuesday, February 27, at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island, S.C.
