WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's tennis team will take its highest national ranking in 24 years into the University of Mount Olive on Saturday when the Bulldogs tangle with the rival Trojans at 1:00 p.m., in the Conference Carolinas opener.
The Bulldogs are ranked No. 16 in NCAA Division II by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), Barton's highest ranking since the 1997-98 school year under Tom Morris.
Barton is 7-5 on the year but is currently on a five-match winning streak. The Bulldogs also boast the past two Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Players of the Week in freshman
Kristoffer Staahlbrand (Oslo, NORWAY) and junior
Philip Nordberg (Mariefred, SWEDEN), respectively.
Barton's next home match will take place on Friday, March 25, at 3:00 p.m., against league-foe Belmont Abbey.
