Box Score WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (12-12) won its third straight contest with a 10-5 victory over California (Pa.) (6-5) Tuesday evening at Fleming Stadium.
The Bulldogs hit three home runs in the contest – courtesy of senior outfielder Trevor Edior (Los Angeles, Calif.), sophomore third baseman Tyler Robinson (Beaver Falls, Pa.) and junior designated hitter Patrick Downum (Edenton, N.C.) – while Edior and Robinson hit back-to-back round-trippers in the third frame in the victory.
Edior added a triple and a single and finished with three runs batted in while senior Nate McKenrick (Lake City, Pa.) improved to 2-1 on the year after earning the win in relief. McKenrick pitched nearly six innings while allowing just one run with five strikeouts.
For California, David Lee (Pittsburgh, Pa.) hit a three-run home run and drove in four runs despite the loss. On the mound, Bradyn Kail (Baltimore, Md.) (0-1) was tagged with the setback for the Vulcans.
Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play on Friday when the Bulldogs travel to Murfreesboro, N.C., to take on Chowan Friday at 2:30 p.m., while California (Pa.) faces No. 4 Catawba at Fleming Stadium on Wednesday starting at 1:00 p.m.
