TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Barton men's tennis team (8-7, 3-1) won its third straight match with a 6-1 triumph over North Greenville (2-11, 0-3) Saturday afternoon at the Vance Tennis Complex.
The Bulldogs were led by a quartet of players with victories in singles and doubles action: junior Rory Gaydon (Darlington, ENGLAND), sophomores Alessandro Gerbino (Borlange, SWEDEN) and Hugh Ryder (Dartmouth, ENGLAND) and freshman James Kelly (Mazabuka, ZAMBIA).
Gaydon and Ryder teamed to win at second doubles while Ryder and Kelly paired together at No. 3 doubles in pulling out a very close victory – 7-6 (7-4) – over North Greenville's Yannis Moulod (Cremona, ITALY) and Giacomo Garini (So. Abidjan, IVORY COAST).
In addition, Gerbino pulled out a three-set victory – 6-3, 3-6 and 6-4 – at fourth singles over North Greenville's Robin van der Heijde (Burgh Haamstede, Zeeland, NETHERLANDS) while Kelly won his third straight singles' contest.
Barton returns home to take on Emmanuel (Ga.) in a league match on Friday, March 29, beginning at 2:00 p.m., while North Greenville travels to Central, S.C., to take on Southern Wesleyan Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
