Barton men's tennis takes down Edinboro, 6-1, in home competition

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's tennis team (2-6) rebounded with a 6-1 victory over Edinboro (Pennsylvania) (5-1) Saturday morning at the Bulldogs' complex.  Barton snapped a two-game losing streak and handed the Fighting Scots their first loss of the season.

The Bulldogs were spearheaded by a quartet of players who won at both singles and doubles:  sophomores Diego Agudelo (Bogata, COLOMBIA) and Oscar Marmestedt (Akersbega, SWEDEN), junior Rory Gaydon (Darlington, ENGLAND) and freshman James Kelly (Mazabuka, ZAMBIA).

Agudelo and Marmestedt won at first doubles over the Fighting Scots' Kevin Mboko (Burlington, Ontario, CANADA) and Julius Schulte by a 6-3 score while Marmestedt rallied to beat Edinboro's Nils Plutat (Sauerlach, BAVARIA):  3-6, 6-0 and 6-1 at No. 3 singles.  In addition, the duo of Gaydon and Kelly have won two straight doubles contests.

The Bulldogs remain at home to take on Shaw on Monday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m., while Edinboro faces West Liberty on Sunday afternoon in Hilton Head Island, S.C., at 1:00 p.m.
