BELMONT, N.C. – The Barton men's tennis team (5-7, 0-1) saw its four-game winning streak come to an end with a 6-1 setback to Belmont Abbey (7-11, 1-1) in its Conference Carolinas opener Tuesday at the Reidy Center.
The Bulldogs did win at third singles when sophomore Oscar Marmestedt (Akersberga, SWEDEN) downed the Crusaders' Kent Shiell (Mandeville, La.) by a score of 7-5, 2-6 and 10-4. Marmestedt is 4-1 in his last five singles' matches.
Barton returns home to take on West Virginia State on Saturday at Noon while Belmont Abbey hosts Warren Wilson (10:00 a.m.) and Limestone (1:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
