Barton baseball rallies to beat Queens, 6-4, Wednesday at home

Box Score

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (5-4) moved back over .500 on the season with a 6-4 victory over Queens (2-7) Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference contest at Nixon Field.

Freshman outfielder Jacob Marcos (Miami, Fla.) and senior outfielder Hunter Pearre (Poolesville, Md.) both drove in two runs as the Bulldogs rallied from a 3-1 deficit to take the win.

In the seventh frame, Pearre tied the score at three with a run-scoring single before scoring the game-winner on a wild pitch.  Sophomore Clay Walters (Wake Forest, N.C.) (1-0) earned the victory in relief while freshman Connor Patterson (Randleman, N.C.) pitched the final two innings for his first save of the year.

Queens was led by C.J. Hammonds (Whiteville, N.C.) with a solo home run and two runs batted in but Lee Harrison (Charlotte, N.C.) (0-1) was tagged with the setback.

Barton next hosts Mercy in a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 12:30 p.m., while Queens travels to Mount Olive N.C., to take on No. 23 Mount Olive in a doubleheader on Friday as well starting at 3:00 p.m.
