HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The Barton men's cross country team took 19th place overall at the 12th annual Sand Shark Invitational at Sgt. Jasper Park on Saturday morning. USC Beaufort served as the host institution.
Embry-Riddle took home team honors with three runners in the top seven overall while Bethune-Cookman's Daniel Kiptoo won the race with a 25:03 over the 8K course.
Barton was led by freshman Deshawn Owens (Pikeville, N.C.), who crossed the finish line in 97th place with a time of 28:14 while sophomore Evan Lee (Wilson, N.C.) finished in 28:20 to take 101st-place overall for the Bulldogs.
Barton next competes in the 2018 Conference Carolinas Men's Cross Country Championship on Saturday, November 3, on the campus of the University of Mount Olive.
