WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's tennis won its sixth straight match on Saturday with an 8-1 victory over visiting Emmanuel (Ga.) College at the Barton Tennis Complex.
For the second straight day, Barton won all three doubles matchups, including a dominating 8-1 win by the No. 1 team of Julian Bosch and Jesus Gil.
Bosch was also in control at No. 2 singles, winning for the fifth straight time with a score of 6-1, 6-0, before Gil clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No.6, also his fifth in a row.
Senior Jake McCartney claimed a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, followed by an identical 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 4 by freshman Rory Gaydon. Senior Yaxi Pintado became the third member of the team to win five matches in a row, taking a 6-4, 6-3 decision at No. 3.
Barton concludes its busy weekend of competition tomorrow when it hosts Shaw University in a non-conference contest.
