GAFFNEY, S.C. – Limestone College handed the Barton men's tennis team its first Conference Carolinas loss on Saturday afternoon with a 6-3 triumph on its home court.
Barton (9-4, 5-1) fell behind 2-1 after doubles play as the No. 2 duo of seniors Jake McCartney and Yaxi Pintado picked up BC's lone point with an 8-7 win.
The Saints (7-4, 6-1) clinched the match decision with four victories in singles play, all at the top four positions. Freshman Ermanno Galimberti secured a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 5, while sophomore Jesus Gil won 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4) in the No. 6 position for his eighth consecutive victory.
The Bulldogs will look to rebound as they travel to Belmont, N.C. on Tuesday, March 28 for a league matchup with Belmont Abbey College at 2 p.m.
