WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College men's tennis team ended its Conference Carolinas schedule with a 8-1 triumph over North Greenville University on Saturday afternoon at the Barton Tennis Complex.
Barton was ahead 3-0 after doubles play as the No. 3 duo of seniors Nick Genest and Daniel Radu won 8-3. BC's No. 2 tandem of Jake McCartney and Yaxi Pintado also won 8-3 before the No. 1 doubles team of Jesus Gill and Rafael Ruiz-Velasco won 8-5.
Ruiz Velasco won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles before Pintado secured the match win for Barton with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. With the victory, Pintado finishes the season 9-0 against Conference Carolinas singles competition.
Radu earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5, followed by a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles by Gil. North Greenville got its only point of the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 1 position as Genest ended the day with a 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles.
Barton travels to Greenville, N.C. on Wednesday, March 13 for a non-conference match against Division I East Carolina University before competing in the conference tournament at the end of the month.
