WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College men's tennis team extended its winning streak to three matches with an 8-1 victory over visiting Southern Wesleyan University on Friday afternoon at the Barton Tennis Complex.
The Bulldogs were ahead 3-0 after winning each doubles matchup, needing just two points to seal the match win.
Senior Daniel Radu won his No. 5 singles match 6-4, 6-0, followed by a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 by freshman Jesus Gil to give Barton the win.
Junior Yaxi Pintado won his ninth singles match in a row with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 4 before senior Rafael Ruiz Velasco earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles. Junior Jake McCartney gave Barton its final point with a 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 1-0 (10-6) third-set super tiebreaker win at No. 1 singles.
BC hosts North Greenville University tomorrow at 1 p.m. in its final Conference Carolinas match.
