BRISTOL, TENN. – The Barton College men's volleyball team had its six-game winning streak snapped with a 3-2 loss to McKendree University in a neutral site contest on the campus of King University on Friday afternoon.
Barton fell to 12-4 overall after committing 23 attack errors and hitting just .259 as a team while McKendree improved to 9-8 following a .395 hitting performance.
Junior setter Federico Pagliara recorded his third double-double performance of the season with a match-high 47 assists to go along with a season-high 11 digs. Freshman Kekaulike Alameda led the team with 12 digs, while senior Pierre Tang-Taye had 18 kills and six digs of his own.
McKendree hits .650 as a team in the opening set to claim a 25-18 win before Barton responded with a 25-18 win of its own in the second set as the two teams were tied at one set apiece.
The Bulldogs took the third set 25-22 to take the match lead and looked to put the Bearcats away with a 7-3 run to open the fourth set. However, four consecutive points tied the match for McKendree followed by a 5-1 lead to give them the lead and push the match to a fifth and final set following a seven-point win in the frame.
Barton opened the final set with a 3-1 run, extending its lead to 7-4 early on. The Bearcats would not be shut down as they took their first lead of the set at 8-7. The set was tied at 12-12 before McKendree outscored Barton 3-1 down the stretch to claim the comeback win.
BC travels to Erskine College tomorrow for a Conference Carolinas match scheduled for a 2 p.m. start time.
