WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (10-12, 5-5) rallied from two sets down to beat King (4-18, 0-11), 3-2, in a Conference Carolinas match Saturday afternoon at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs prevailed over the Tornado by scores of 24-26, 23-25, 25-20, 25-23 and 15-12.
Barton was paced by sophomore outside hitter
Lawson Hink (Brookfield, Wis.) with 18 kills while freshman outside hitter
Jacob Martinez (Tucson, Ariz.) added a dozen kills as the Bulldogs won their second straight five-setter.
King was led by a Carson Pliapol (Port Orange, Fla.) with a match-high 19 kills while Tristan Brassington (Jupiter, Fla.) totaled 49 assists but the Tornado remained winless in league play.
Barton sophomore setter
Sammy DeBilzan (Lexington, Ky.), who split duties today, still finished with 37 assists as the Bulldogs hit .309 in the victory to complete the season sweep of the Tornado.
Barton hits the road to take on conference rival Mount Olive on Tuesday starting at 7:00 p.m., in Mount Olive, N.C., while King hosts Belmont Abbey Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. as well.
