MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (10-13, 5-6) fell to rival Mount Olive (12-7, 9-2) by a 3-0 score in a Conference Carolinas contest Tuesday evening at Kornegay Arena.
The Trojans, winners of four straight contests, won by scores of 25-15, 25-19 and 25-11.
Mount Olive was led by Brooks Ignosci (San Clemente, Calif.) with nine kills while Jackson Lahey (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) totaled 22 assists, seven blocks and seven digs in the triumph.
Barton sophomore outside hitter
Lawson Hink (Brookfield, Wis.), the reigning league offensive player of the week, finished with eight kills and five digs while sophomore setter
Sammy DeBilzan (Lexington, Ky.) totaled 16 assists in the losing effort.
Mount Olive limited Barton to a -0.113 hitting percentage to along with 17 blocks.
Barton remains on the road to take on Newberry in Newberry, S.C., on Thursday beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Mount Olive next visits the Bulldogs on Wednesday, April 8, to take on their rivals at Wilson Gymnasium starting at 7:00 p.m.
