WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball made quick work of the North Greenville University Crusaders on Tuesday night, winning 3-0 (25-16, 25-10, 25-16) in a Conference Carolinas Tournament Quarterfinal matchup in Wilson Gymnasium.
Barton the North Division Champions and tournament's No. 1 overall seed earned the right to host the semifinals and championship match on Nov. 12-13 in Wilson after improving to 20-8 overall. It is the program's first 20-win season since the 2003 campaign.
The Lady Bulldogs hit .359 in the win, holding North Greenville to a .099 mark with 16 attack errors. BC also had nine service aces including two each from Riley Bane, Mariana Kedzia, Hayley Marshburn and Laura Peed.
Marshburn led all players with 15 kills in the match, hitting at a .333 mark with eight digs, while Kedzia and junior Courtney Wiseman finished with seven kills each. Sophomore Allie Cullens had eight kills with a .800 hitting percentage, as Bane finished with 15 digs. Sophomore Angelica Acevedo tuned in 40 assists to go along with eight.
BC opened the match with four straight points in the first set, never trailing en route to a nine-point win. After giving away the first point of the second set, the Lady Bulldogs built an 18-8 advantage and finished the set with back-to-back kills from Cullens and Wiseman.
The third set was never in doubt as the Royal Blue and White led from start to finish, fending off a 4-0 run by the Crusaders midway through the frame to seal a straight-set victory.
Barton will host the North Division's No. 3 seed King University in a semifinal match on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. The match will be preceded by a 5 p.m. contest between Erskine College and Belmont Abbey College.
