WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (2-4) split a pair of matches Friday on day of the UNC Pembroke Invitational at Lumbee Bank Guaranty Court. The Bulldogs fell in five sets to Virginia State, 3-2, before shutting out Middle Georgia State, 3-0.

The Trojans outlasted by the Bulldogs by scores of 25-21, 25-23, 18-25, 14-25 and 15-7.
Virginia State was led by Gracie Darville (Woodbridge, Va.) and Kyrie Willis (Cypress, Texas) with 17 and 15 kills, respectively, in the victory.

Bailey McIntyre (Mooresville, N.C.) finished with 11 kills and 10 digs while graduate student setter
Paige Bagwell (Kings Mountain, N.C.) tallied a double-double as well – 24 assists and 11 digs – despite the setback.
Barton lost despite 11 service aces and 11 blocks.
Barton 3, Middle Georgia State 0
The Bulldogs bounced back with a sweep of Knights, 25-19, 25-14 and 25-14.
Bagwell tallied another double-double – 12 assists and 15 digs – and McIntyre led the way again with nine kills in the victory.
The Bulldogs limited the winless Knights to a 0.067 hitting percentage. Middle Georgia State was led by Caitlyn Wolf (McDonough, Ga.) with a match-high 11 kills despite the loss.
Barton wraps up the weekend tournament on Saturday when the Bulldogs take on Embry-Riddle (Fla.) beginning at 1:00 p.m.
