BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Barton women's volleyball team (2-7, 0-2) came up short to King (6-3, 1-1), 3-2, in a tight five-setter Friday evening at the Student Center Complex in a Conference Carolinas match.

The Tornado won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-23, 25-17, 18-25, 25-27 and 17-15.

King was paced by Cameron Martin (High Point, N.C.) with a team-high 18 kills and 18 digs and Avery Schwieger (Winter Park, Fla.) with 13 kills in the triumph.

Barton lost despite the play of junior outside hitter Bailey McIntyre (Mooresville, N.C.).  McIntyre pulled off a rare triple-double - 22 kills, 17 digs and 10 service aces - and graduate student setter Paige Bagwell (Kings Mountain, N.C.) added 22 assists and eight digs in the setback.

King was able to survive despite 18 service errors and jumping out to a 2-0 advantage in the match.

Barton remains on the road to take on Lees-McRae in a league contest Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m., in Banner Elk, N.C.

King, meanwhile, hosts Chowan in a conference match Saturday at Noon.
