CARY, N.C.-Seniors Lauren Andreola and Cimone Barbour recorded identical times of 20:41.4 to pace the Barton College women's cross country team to an 10th place finish out of 19 teams in the 21st annual Wolfpack Challenge hosted by North Carolina State University at the WakeMed Soccer Park Friday evening.
Eight Lady Bulldogs had faster 5-kilometer times than a week earlier as Barton finished fourth out of 11 non-NCAA Division I squads.
Andreola was positioned one spot ahead of Barbour in the final results despite having the same fast times. Andreola and Barbour were 74th and 75th overall out of 170 harriers.
Barton was the top NCAA DII institution in the event finishing ahead of Winston-Salem State University, Shaw University and Saint Augustine's University while also topping a pair of DI institutions in North Carolina A&T and NC Central University.
Senior Angelica Del Real followed Andreola and Barbour across the finish line just 12 seconds later in 80th place with a time of 20:53. Classmate Andrea Roca completed the 3.1 mile course 30 seconds after Del Real in 93rd at 21:23 to just beat out sophomore teammate Heather Cuddington's time of 21:25 in 95th.
Other finishers for the Lady Bulldogs included junior Jamicia Jones (22:28), junior Lauren Yoho (23:04), junior Eva Amo-Mensah (23:39) and senior Tikycia Young (24:05).
Barton next completes in the Hagan Stone Cross Country Classic in Greensboro, N.C., on Saturday, October 4.
