GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Barton women's cross country team finished eighth as a team at the Pirate Invitational – hosted by East Carolina University – which took place Friday afternoon at Overton's Lake Kristi.
Elon was the top team overall with four runners in the top 11.
Barton was led for the fourth time in as many races this year by freshman Hailey Russell (Jacksonville, N.C.), who ran the 6K course in 24:50 and taking 47th overall. Meanwhile, junior Meghan Araldi (Albany, N.Y.) placed 58th with a time of 26:30 for the Bulldogs. Norfolk State's Martha Bissah won the race in 20:51.
Barton next competes on Saturday, October 20 in the Sand Shark Invitational, hosted by USC Beaufort. The meet takes place at Sgt. Jasper Park in Hardeeville, S.C.
