WILSON, N.C.-The Barton College women's tennis team won all six of its singles matches in straight sets as the Lady Bulldogs coasted to a 9-0 non-conference home win against Randolph-Macon College on a cold Monday afternoon at the Barton Tennis Complex.
Junior Meredith Pruden, freshman Randi Price and senior Caroline Fischer did not lose a game in their matches in the lower half of the lineup as Barton improved to 9-5 overall.
The Lady Bulldogs took a 3-nil lead with three comfortable wins in doubles. Sophomore Smiljana Kljajic and freshman Ananya Sarkar had the easiest time in the top tier winning 8-2. Pruden and junior Alicia Lasry tallied an 8-4 triumph in the middle doubles match while Fischer and Price also doubled up their foes 8-4 in the final encounter.
Kljajic-Sarkar feature a record of 6-4 as partners; Pruden-Lasry follow at 5-4 and Fischer Price moved to 3-1.
Pruden, Price and Fischer all won by matching 6-0, 6-0 scores in the fourth, fifth and sixth positions in the lineup, respectively. Pruden, who has won five straight matches, vaunts a team-most wins with a 10-3 singles ledger. Price has won three consecutive trips to the court to move to .500 at 5-5. Fischer continues her strong play in her final season moving to 6-3.
Lasry, Kljajic and Sarkar needed just one, two and three more games, correspondingly, than the aforementioned trio in securing their conquests. Lasry (6-5) disposed of her No. 3 foe 6-1, 6-0; Kljajic (7-5) toppled her No. 1 opponent 6-0, 6-2 and Sarkar (6-4) rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win.
The Yellow Jackets slipped to 5-4 on the season.
Barton returns to Conference Carolinas action with a clash with local rival University of Mount Olive on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in a rescheduled match from Wednesday.
