MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (9-2, 5-0) ran its winning streak to eight matches with a 6-1 triumph over Chowan (4-8, 1-4) Tuesday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at the Rose Family Complex.
The Bulldogs had five players triumph at singles and doubles competition: seniors
Leonie Hellum-Lilleengen (Bekkestua, NORWAY),
Eulalia Pascual Biosca (Albatarrec, SPAIN), juniors
Aarni Yellu (Hyderabad, INDIA) and
Claudia Zaratiegui Marquez (Barcelona, SPAIN) and sophomore
Alejandra Carmona Garcia (Fraga, SPAIN).
Yellu's come-from-behind victory over Chowan's Feidi Abreu Rodriguez (Santo Domingo, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC), 6-1, 4-6 and 6-2, at No. 2 singles and Hellum-Lilleengen's triumph at fourth singles were both players eighth straight win.
Barton hits the road to take on league-foe North Greenville on Friday beginning at 2:00 p.m., in Tigerville, S.C.
Chowan, meanwhile, faces Erskine on Friday in Due West, S.C., in a conference contest starting at 2:00 p.m., as well.
